Dear all... Myself and my father are putting together a history of our family... My grandmother served the entire war with the Wrens. I have managed to get a copy of her service record and it is almost blank. It does say she was at HMS Merganzer from Dec 1 1944 to August 8 1946. In total she was at 6 different bases (including Spartiate II in 1940). I'm looking to get the answer to a couple of questions. The first is what 'War Gratuity Pay' was? My Nan received this from HMS Hornet. Also would anyone have any idea what 'Wren (HGR)' was. The final question is any idea what 'released to shore in Class A' means (after she had extended her service for a further two years). The last question I have a fair idea of the answer as there are a few mysteries around my Nan in these years... Having said this, any information about about what went on at the above bases would be great (especially from a Wrens POV). Thanks for any help you can give... Michael
