Finally getting around to finishing that VW book on Major Hirst (The man who saved Volkswagen : VW Hirst book.pdf 8mb pdf) & I'm finding my interest growing on the setting up & running of them, and exactly what happened in the immediate postwar phase. Anyone seen any good websites? Or even better, read a decent book on the subject? Some good pictures on IWM Collections if you search for "allied occupation". How peculiar... I've just flicked the television over and they're interviewing Ivan Hirst! Cheers, Adam.
Adam, I am sure I have seen some books about this on eBay dating from the period. Will see what I can find.
Thanks Paul, Just looking at something called: "The allied control commission Microfilm project", which sounds like it might be a reproduction set of British documents relating to the commission, not a bad price too. However, it may be in Italian, or even a description (seminar report) of the data conversion process rather than the documents themselves. ?? Can't seem to find a more 'normal' book relating specifically to the subject. Hmmm.
2 Year bump because I read a detailed Poppy cross to an ACC bloke who was killed in Korea today. Lots of new members since 2008, still not finding too much on Google (Though hansard might be worth a deeper look), any thoughts on books or links?
The reading room at the IWM used to have a set of bound volumes on Mil Gov and the Control Commission on the open shelves, on looking through them I was amazed at how thorough the planning had been

Wasn't really sure where to put this, so here'll do as it's essentially the ACC justifying/explaining some of it's activities (we appear to have a paucity of Marshall-Plan & Berlin Airlift related threads, which quite surprised me... I'm probably just not searching right. Thought we had more on Morgenthau & his 'Rustification' too, but that might have been WW2F).
