    I think that the Johnston listed by Recce Mitch on 43rd Recce Roll of Honour
    Trooper DONALD ALEXANDER JOHNSTON
    10600882
    Who died age 21 on 24 June 1944 At sea Derry Cunihy hit mine
    Son of John and Amelia Johnston; husband of Betty Johnston, of Sholing, Southampton.
    BAYEUX MEMORIAL Panel 6.

    must be the same Johnston mentioned in the war letters I'm publishing -"Just relax Lulubell" - Sunday 3rd January 1943 - Chotie Darling and subsequent letters from January and February 1943. If so a brilliant young pianist was also lost in the sinking of the Derry Cunihy.

    :poppy::poppy::poppy: We will remember them.

    Hi,
    I am currently researching the men on my local war memorial. One of those named is Kenneth Meirion Billett. He was killed when the Derrycunihy was mined off of Normandy. I know what happened to the ship but I would love to find out about the man. Any ideas?
