    Left working camp in ALT PALESHKEN on 18/2/45 WITH Wm. COWIE, and hid in woods and farms for sixteen days, attempting to get to Russian lines. Retaken by a German artillery battery on 4/3/45 in same village. We were both taken into DANZIG to French P.O.W. Camp.

    8. Have you any other matter of any kind you wish to bring to notice?

    Was with a party of approx. 230 P.OW's who were sent from DANZIG to LUBECK by the freighter Lys. We left on the 13/3/45, arrived LUBECK 26/3/45. During this period we received one loaf of bread and about three litres soup. We were all in one hold and had only the opportunity to wash once.
