Hello there, On behalf of a friend of mine I am researching the military career of Elwyn Jackson 1677290 . I have a copy of his military records which show he enlisted in August 1942 and trained at various establishments in the UK as a Radar Technical Operator before moving to active service in Europe in August 1944 with 5426(J) Mobile Signals Unit. I believe that the "J" indicates the type of equipment the unit used - in this case apparently "VHF R/T point-to-point channels". Does anyone know what this type of equipment actually did and how it was used? Surviving correspondence has his location in autumn of 1944 at Baardegem and Haasrode in Belgium and Doetichem in Holland. In February 1945 he was with 84 Group Control Centre at Wesendorf in Germany. I would be most grateful if anybody can point me in the direction of finding out more on the movements of 5426(J) M.S.U during this time scale or anything else which may be of use. Many thanks in anticipation. Richard
