Also, I have had some dealings with BBC researchers over the years professionally and this is not the way they work at all.
One must also ask the reason why, if this is indeed the case, someone would want present a (maybe bona fide) relationship with the Beeb in such a manner. I would have thought people would be more willing to help an individual genealogist, historian or perhaps even an author seeking evidence rather than a large organisation with a budget for researchers. As some of you know I work regularly with the BBC, and can confirm this is not how they would operate. If one of their researchers came onto this site and posted a request, any contact would be via a bbc.co.uk email address, and nothing else.
