Can anyone decipher these service records for George Richardson. The local paper at the time reported he was MIA presumed died. The local librarian, who collated the RoH at the end of the war, took the article and added him to the roll. This was later added to the town's memorial. His grandson said his grandad would always go to the Remembrance Service and pasted comment, wondering if G Richardson was a distant relative ! There's another sheet from 43-44 which lists some T C's in Italy and POW Camp 313 and being graded as B1, I take it he never went back on 'active' service and remained on guard duty etc. I believe 313 was in Libya George Richardson after his 'death' and promotion.
The casualty lists have 3 reports for him whist with the 4 Bn Royal Sussex Regt:- Wounded 2/9/42 (remaining on duty) then Missing 27/10/42 then Wounded 27/10/42 (previously reported missing since located)
I would ask Buteman to look him up in his Lincolnshire Regt enlistment book files. See if any extra info is in there.
