    BANNERMAN John Crombie Gunner 107833, 5th Searchlight Regiment killed 5th March 1943 age 32. Son of Robert and Agnes Maisie nee Chalmers of Hounslow, Middlesex. Commemorated on the Singapore Memorial, located in the Kranji War Cemetery

    HOOKER Charles Francis, Gunner 14227901, 276 Battery, 66th Light Anti Aircraft Regiment, Royal Artillery died 4th December 1943, age 42. Son of Francis and Edith Annie and husband of Jemima of Barnsbury, London. Buried at Syracuse War Cemetery, Sicily

    MCCONDACH Ian Gordon, Lieutenant 186276, 1st Squardron,5th Regiment, 3rd The Tower Hamlets Rifles, Reconnaissance Corps, Royal Armourd Corps, died 20th May 1944 age 23. Son of Robert and Jean Gordon McCondach and husband of Joan Doreen of Itchingfield, Sussex. Buried at beach Head War cemetery, Anzio, Italy. he was Mentioned in Despatches

    MADDOCK Evelyn Lydia, Civilian. lived and died at 20. Euston Grove, Oxton, Southwell, along with her sister,who also was killed Winifred Nottinghamshire, and daughter of late Samuel and Lydia Mary Maddock of the same address. Died 12th March 1941 age 53. Buried at Birkenhead Cemetery, Cheshire

    MADDOCK Winifred Gwendoline, Civilian, lived and died at the same address as her sister Evelyn age 52. Buried at Birkenhead Cemetery

    PARRY Ralph, Second Lieutenant 134143, 2nd King’s Own Royal Regiment [Lancaster] died 11th July 1941 age 22. Son of Frederick Saunders and Dora Margaret Parry of Upton, Cheshire. Buried at Damascus Commonwealth War Cemetery, Syria

    ROBERTS John Francis , Sergeant Wireless Ops and Observer 656877, 46th Squadron, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve. Buried at Port Said War Memorial Cemetery, Egypt

    Op: Berlin.

    Took off 2013 hrs from Warboys. Believed to have crashed in the Tegeler See, exploding on impact. Seven crew lost.

    A few details on the above RAF loss.


    Three Beaufighters of No.46 Squadron Missing 15 November 1942

    Three Beaufighters of 46 squadron were detached from Egypt to Malta, but never arrived, their fate being unknown. Two days later German Intelligence reported that their fighters had shot down three Beaufighters.

    There are six known No.46 Sqn deaths on this date.

    BURWARTON WAR MEMORIAL SHROPSHIRE

    This memorial is out in the country and not dedicated to any Town, Village or Hamlet It is about one mile south of Burwarton on the B4364 left side where two lane meet Loughton and Dovehouse

    I have given it the name of Burwarton as a guide for its location

    Special Operations Executive (S.O.E)
    Killed at Struthof / Natzwelller Concentration Camp

    BORRELL Andrée Raymonde, Lieutenant, Women’s Transport Service [F.A.N.Y.] First Aid Nursing, attached to Special Operations Executive, executed 6 July 1944. Commemorated at Brookwood Memorial, Near Pirbright, Berkshire. Born in France 18 November 1919, during the WW2 she joined the Red Cross then went into the S.O.E. as an agent and she was parachuted in to France 24 September 1942. On the 23 June 1943 she along with three members were arrested by the gastapo and taken to Avenue Foch, Paris where on the 6 July she was injected with phenol and place in a furnace

    LEIGH Vera Eugenie Ensign, F/15 Women’s Transport Service [F.A.N.Y.] First Aid Nursing, attached to Special Operations Executive, executed 6 July 1944 age 40. Daughter of Mr & Mrs Eugene Leigh Commemorated at Brookwood Memorial, Near Pirbright, Berkshire. Born in Leeds 17 March 1903, and went on to join the French Resistance. She at one time was a First Aid Nursing Yeomanry [FANY] then became an S.O.E. agent. On the 30 April 1943 she was arrested by the Gestapo and imprisoned at Fresnes. On the 6th July 1944 she was taken to Natzweiler Concentration camp where she was injected with phenol and placed in a furnace along with Diana Rowden.

    ROWDEN Diana Hope Section Officer 4193, Woman Auxiliary Air Force att to S.O.E. and Mentioned in Despatches. And Croix De Guerre. Executed 6 July 1944 age 29, daughter of Major Aldred Clement and Christian Rowden of Binsted, Hampshire. Commemorated on the Runnymede Memorial, Englefield Green, Egham. Born in England 31 January 1915 and the family moved to France. Where in 1943 became a S.O.E. agent. On the 18 November 1944 she was arrested with two other agents and taken to the Gastapo Headquaters, Avenue Foch , Paris and on the 6 July 1944 she was taken to the above concentration came and later that day was injected with phenol and placed in a furnace

    OLSCHANEZKY Sonia Sous-Lietenant. She was actively involved in the war as messenger from agents to others, and involved in sabotage and carrying wireless parts. To W/T Operators. She was betrayed and arrested June 1944 when she was suppose to meet with an agent but the Gestapo was waiting. She was executed at Natzweiler 6 June 1944 aged 21 years of age.     Took off 1852 hrs from Harwell with the intention of flying base-Taunton-Bideford-St.Marys-Skomer Island-Fishguard-Worcester-base. At 2210 hrs the crew obtained a fix which showed they were more or less on track. Ten minutes later the aircraft was plotted as showing broad Identification Friend of Foe emissions, after which nothing further was heard.
