Hello Wilfred, welcome aboard - wonder if you were involved in the fighting on the Island or Nijmegen Bridgehead (Sept/Oct 1944) with the 6th Green Howards. I'm actually working on a thread about this operation, see http://www.ww2talk.com/forum/nw-europe/46196-island-german-counter-attack-against-nijmegen-bridgehead-oct-1944-a.html I put part of the History of the Green Howards over here http://www.ww2talk.com/forum/allied-units-general/50867-green-howards-2.html Please, feel free to comment on it.
Wilf, Fantastic. Welcome. I know one chap, who served with 1 London Irish Rifles, and would have been a honorary 50th Infantry Division comrade of yours near to Catania in July 1943. best
Hello Wilf I am pleased you have finally introduced yourself A very warm welcome to the forum. Hello, Wilf. Hope you don't mind, but I've taken the liberty of changing you to the 'WW2 Veteran' usergroup with a Purple user name; doesn't confer many extra priveliges, but does at least identify you to others as one who was there. (Normally takes a while to check Veteran status as best we can, but I think we can take these chaps word for you . ) I've enjoyed reading your stuff previously via a thread or two - Quite the CV. ~A
Owen With ref to Welcome to the forum Wilf. Joined the forum in November 2011 & posts now. Where have you been ? Nothing surprising there. I see that I joined in November 2004 but didn't post until 2007. Ron
