Hello Wilfred, welcome aboard - wonder if you were involved in the fighting on the Island or Nijmegen Bridgehead (Sept/Oct 1944) with the 6th Green Howards. I'm actually working on a thread about this operation, see http://www.ww2talk.com/forum/nw-europe/46196-island-german-counter-attack-against-nijmegen-bridgehead-oct-1944-a.html

I put part of the History of the Green Howards over here http://www.ww2talk.com/forum/allied-units-general/50867-green-howards-2.html

Please, feel free to comment on it.

    Wilf,

    Fantastic. Welcome.

I know one chap, who served with 1 London Irish Rifles, and would have been a honorary 50th Infantry Division comrade of yours near to Catania in July 1943.

    Hello, Wilf.

Hope you don't mind, but I've taken the liberty of changing you to the 'WW2 Veteran' usergroup with a Purple user name; doesn't confer many extra priveliges, but does at least identify you to others as one who was there.

(Normally takes a while to check Veteran status as best we can, but I think we can take these chaps word for you ;). )

I've enjoyed reading your stuff previously via a thread or two - Quite the CV.
