Hello Dave, tis my 1st posting on this forum (you may recognise me as jay dubaya from the other place with advertising issues). Just touching base with this thread and hoping that all is good with you,

    cheers, Jon

    Hi Jon.

Yes, everything's fine with me, thanks. It's got a lot more than just advertising issues IMO, but here's not the place:).

I'm about to post all my replies to this thread from the GWF (I recall some are for you also?) so, could you (or anyone else who also uses the GWF) do me a favour please? I need you to notify those on the GWF that the replies are now available.

(Unfortunately, the thread on the GWF is now locked (whether by me or by a moderator, I can't remember), so, if a mod won't unlock it for you temporarily to post the message, could you start a new thread to announce it for me? - I don't like to let people down and, as I promised to do the look ups for them, they're going to have to see them on here).

All the images are on my photobucket account, so ,even if they are not members of this site, they should be able to see the images.

    Cheers,

    Dave.

    ...onto the look-ups....

pietro - my apologies , I've just got the history of the first seven battalions.

    Hi Dave
Do you have any info for an officer of the Lincolnshire Regt, Lt W Nainby, who went missing on 27 May 1918 whilst attached to the 62nd LTM Bty? I've just read the scan you posted for Jarvis above, which deals with the same day. I don't know whether he will be mentioned in the Lincs history, since they had a number of casualties that day.
Nainby's family were told that his position was overwhelmed, and that the whole battery were taken prisoner as they emerged from their dugouts. However, after that nothing was seen or heard of him, and it was not until some time after the war that his father accepted that he was dead, and not a forgotten prisoner somewhere in Europe. Geoff's search engine brings him up as the only 62nd LTM man killed that day.
    Thanks

Do you have any information about the movements of 7th Suffolks during the second half of 1915, as well as first few days of the Somme (1-4th July 1916)

My great grandfather Arthur Abbs was in the 7th Suffolks, and I'm pretty sure he was at Loos, but not sure where exactly, and he was wounded/captured on July 3rd 1916 near Ovillers La Boisselle. I have seen the regiment war diary, but before I had the above info, so any info you have would be welcome.

    Many thanks,
    Chris

    Hi
I'm looking for any info on the 10th London Regiment My Grandfather joined 1914 1916 and then died of his injury in 1920. I even got his medical Card / book.
He was discharged from Chelsea Hospital and tells me what his injury was. A photo and or anything about the Balkans/France.
