    Hello

Can anyone tell me what the insignia on the arm patch in this photo relates to? Photo probably taken in spring 1945 in Belsen concentration camp.

    thanks in advance

If deemed location of photo is correct, odd that the subject seems to be wearing a flotation belt. Hard to tell from image, but looks like some sort of vessel superstructure behind him.

    That's what that is!
Spent more time looking at that than the badge.

    (Sorry, Elsie... Nerds at play.)

You beat me to it! Yes. RAF rank is visible. RAF men served in Combined Ops units.

BTW, similar emblem was used by American Amphib forces but emblem was a blue shield with yellow insignia.

Thanks all! Very helpful ( I was wondering was the belt thing was too). The photo is from an album of Belsen photos but may not be Belsen as there are a couple of others that are not.

While I'm here can I ask another Q? Can you tell me anything (at all) about the uniforms in this image? Are they British Army?

Off to Google Combined Ops now...

Headgear and pattern of battledress place this earlier in the war. Looks British.
