When I was thrashing around on the net looking for information on the 1/6th Queen's in France and at Dunkirk, I came across this. Thought someone may be interested.

Found it at http://www.rmets.org/pdf/hist07.pdf, on the Royal Meteorological Society website.

The weather war during WWII was very interesting the Germans had small bases in Iceland and Greenland as well as weather ships deployed to the Northern Seas in fact one of the last German Units to surrender in practice was a weather team. The Americans deployed Naval Weather Teams to the Gobi Desert - I seem to recall a movie starring James Widmark about this unit.

Great story, from a different RAF angle , surprised as RAF bods no mention is made of any abuse on the beaches.
Also the infamous 'fifth columnists' mentioned twice as proven? events.

Could you please post a link to the site where you found it? Would only be fair and proper to credit the source.

I have done it in the original post, I didn't worry originally as all the details were on the front page of the document, please excuse the 'foxes paw'.

I should chip in here with my thanks for expanding my French vocabulary. When asked now if I can speak French, I can reply with "Comme une vache Espagnole" The success of future holidays in France is assured !

Whilst conducting a Google search for information I have come across the following document on Royal Meteorological Society, UK, Weather and Climate, which I thought may be of interest to some. It concerns mobile meterologists in the army:

It contains the only known record of met men involved directly in the real war, in Mr Anderson’s case the war in central and western Belgium and the Nord-Pas-De-Calais in May 1940.

The document can be found here: http://www.rmets.org/pdf/hist07.pdf.
