Hi all, recently came across a War Damage Contribution letter to a local man. Seems a daft question, but did the receiver of this letter had to pay this, or did this payment go to him?? Thanks for reading, Mark.

My grandparents were bombed in Bristol. Largely damage to the roof.
It took a few years for the house to be repaired. From memory, they received tax relief on their mortgage.
Might find a copy of the letter on my old computer later and post it here.

I think this was a levy on certain property owners instituted under the War Damage Act 1941 and nominally used to compensate for war damages incurred.
