    One of my cousins wrote this for a family book.

    Mine are memories of events which occurred during the War,
    The sound of the siren;
    being carried to the garden shelter in a grown-ups arms;
    watching the glow in the sky on the night that Swansea burned;
    Starting school;
    Shelter drill - how I loved wearing my red 'Mickey-mouse gas mask (the 'nose would wiggle up and down if I blew hard enough);
    the convoy of 'Yanks' tossing boxes of biscuits and sweets out to the children;
    and, finally, standing outside the house at the end of it all waiting for the street lights to come on
    and hearing the song 'When the lights go on again all over the world".

    Very hard to hit "Like". Very hard. Reminds me of the photo of young girl who got her clothes burned off by napalm back in the '60s.

    OK.
    From the other side of war. I met my father the first time when I was 3 and cried because I was afraid of this "stranger"
    Stefan.
