Held annually over the first weekend of July at Royal Air Force Waddington, Lincoln, the RAF Waddington International Air Show is the largest of all RAF air shows, regularly attended by over 125,000 visitors. The show offers a truly unforgettable family day out as well as providing some outstanding corporate and private hospitality packages. The main purpose of the event is to increase public awareness and understanding of the RAF and its role today. All proceeds from the Air Show are donated to RAF and local charities each year. The spectacular 7-hour flying display features the fabulous Red Arrows, the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight and many more military and civilian aircraft from the UK and abroad. Ground displays include 2 exhibition hangars, funfair, classic cars display, pleasure flying and much more.

Ok as the show draws near and I've never been before does anyone have any tips?

We was thinking of taking a picnic with some friends or a some disposable BBQs?

    Any tips for disabled people?

    Cheers
    A

I'm not sure BBQs are allowed, you need to check.
We used to have a picnic in the car.
Spend the morning walking about, checking out the stalls and statics etc. Watch the show in the afternoon.
I think Waddo is pretty well set up for the disabled. Watch out for the long grass thou.

I shall be there all weekend

My charity 'The Pilgrim Bandits' has been given a stall space, so myself and a few other colleagues will be there raising money and our charity profile

and I shall be 'disappearing' on a regular basis with my camera :0)

Great - Andrea wants to hire a scooter

Is there a lot of walking to be done if you want to look at the stands? Does it get packed?

does it get packed? YES! is the simple answer and usually starts with the roads being log jammed getting to the airfield

so arrive a bit earlier than you initially plan

    Good advice.
Unless you want the agony of watching a WW1 dogfight from a mile away in a traffic jam...
    Harumph.

RAF Waddington will welcome George "Johnny" Johnson
    26th June 2013
RAF Waddington International Air Show will be delighted to host Dambusters raids veteran George "Johnny" Johnson. Seventy years on from the events of Operation Chastise, which saw a wave of attacks on dams across Germany's industrial heartland, he will talk about his experiences of that May night during an interview on RAF On Air, inside the Main Exhibition Hangar. You can read the official RAF interview with George "Johnny" Johnson interview here.

RAF Waddington are also reminding everyone who haven't got advance tickets to check their website before they travel-it looks like it is going to be a busy weekend
