Here is a video I took of the Medal Room at Blandford Camp, Dorset which houses the Royal Signals Museum. Thought that I would share what a good museum it is!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N4879HKzR58
good day the cooler king,m,today,12:11am.re:video tour-the medal room-royal signals museum dorset, yet another great video.a credit to you.that museum shows the history of many hero's,thank you for sharing, regards bernard85
Nice one CK, well worth a visit I think. At one point early on I thought I could hear the footsteps of security coming to deal with the cameraman in the medal room.
Been in the museum many times - compulsory viewing when on courses there. It is actually very good IMO.
Some wonderful groups on display and plenty with a Burma interest, in fact I was pleasantly surprised how many WW2 Groups were on show.
I'm still rather annoyed that I still can't find the Royal Signals citation for a officer in Burma. The citation appears to have VC crossed out and replaced with either a MC or DSO I can't remember which. In the world of all things Royal Signals this would be a new and immensely interesting piece of info for the Corps to have.
Thanks for the feedback, much appreciated!. The museum itself is part of Blandford Camp which is a fully operational military base - you have to be checked in and issued with a pass!!!. The background noise was all the squaddies eating their dinner!.... to be fair I joined them shortly after!. There is a good representation on display and as you say Babboo43 the Second World War is very well represented across all theatres.
Did you see the Royal Signals Queens Messenger Bike (looks like a Police Bike) in there? It was my old Sgts
