    Good evening,

I would like to show you several parts of "my" wreck, a Vickers Wellington Mk.X bomber from the 142 Sqn., whose codenumber was LN466. This plane crashed against a mountain on the Western Alps on November 24th, 1943; I discovered this very high wrecksite and described the whole story of this brave crew and his last mission in my previous book, "Operation Pointblank. Bombardamenti alleati nel Nord-Ovest", Aviani&Aviani Editori, Udine 2010 (only in Italian, until I'll find a foreign editor to publish an English-language version).

Here you will find the abovementioned pictures of several parts. It is very difficult and quite dangerous to reach the crash site, at about 2900 meters on the sea level; it is the third year of research up there.

If you have whatever possible suggestion, in order to identificate a part or an inscription, please contact me. Together with local historians and mountain inhabitants, we would really like to create a small "museum" with all these parts, not to forget this terrible crash again.

    Thanks indeed. :)

    Hello,
I am in a very similar situation albeit that the crash site had been "cleared" after a friendly fire incident, killing all crew. My father in law is one of the last eye witnesses and I happened to get involved as I am an amateur archaeologist. I could recover still one suspected part of the plane that fell into a marsh where it was recently recovered but need to identify it, still. The RAF museum gave me plenty of hints but nothing conclusive and Brooklands did not really go into detail.
I am just wondering if you happen to have found any leads on how to proceed.
    Thanks,
    Patrick
