Since no one - it appears - these days is teaching the children what is right and wrong - we can expect more and more of this - and if and when they are caught they will pr0bably get a short lecture and told not to do it again as they are obviously disturbed - like their parents...
    Cheers

Disgusting, I hope all involved die horrible deaths. Vandalizing any grave veteran or not is simply unacceptable in any society from both a religious and moral point of view.

Tom from experience because this crime has been highlighted on the TV and in the Newspapers it will attract a little bit of attention from Northumbria Police Bosses...then be quietly forgotten about! It is very unlikely anyone will ever be brought before the courts for like you so rightly state if by some miracle they could prove who did this depending on past offences they could be eligible for a police caution or a reprimand!
Police all over the country often Know who is responsible but have`nt the legal proof to take the case forward. This is`nt a dig at any rank and file police officer or community support officer who do magnificent jobs under difficult circumstances, its a sad reflection on society and the laws (or lack of them) by which we are governed:mad: Rant over!

No Sorry Drew we at Northumbria have the best CSO`s in the country .....
Theres just been an item on the Local News with a rather smug looking council official expressing her regret at the incident but stressing it was up to the CWGC and family members of any civilian graves which may have been damaged to organise the repair /replacement of these headstones and not the councils...why not leave it at the regret stage?

Hang 'em all! And the pathetic excuses for parents that will no doubt plead their offsprings' innocence. I'm afraid that this is the Britain we live in today, where all the scumbags know their "rights" but none of them have a clue as to their responsibilities. I have two children, one of 19 and one of 14 and I'd like to think that neither of them would ever dream of doing anything like this. I guess it boils down to the upbringing!
    Rant over!!

Speaking as a retired long serving Police Officer I agree entirely with your comments.

For years I heard promises from politicians stating that the paperwork burden would be eased to ensure more hours on the beat.

Instead we were faced with constant changes to the Criminal Justice Legislation which provided more paperwork and disclosures for the defence.

No you are not ranting, but the sooner we see a better Criminal Justice System in place, with just sentencing for offenders, the better.

Respect these days appears appears to be declining fast.

    Regards
    Tom

I am reminded of a conversation I had a few years ago with a cemetery attendant.

We were discussing the mindless vandalism that had been taking place and the failure of the local constabulary to prevent people climbing over the cemetery walls in order to perpetrate their crimes.

In my innocence I asked "Why don't you fix razor wire or some similar deterrent ?"

His answer was "We are not allowed to use anything like that in case the parties concerned injure themselves"

    ******** !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! **************

    Give me strength !
