I have been sent a couple of small photos from the unveiling of the original Reconnaissance Memorial at Kohima from Kevin Ross.

    Hi,

My father served with the RECCE and was with them in the Battle of Kohima during March, April and May 1944. I have a couple of small photos taken at the unveiling of the original, wooden, memorial to the Reconnaissance Corps at Kohima. I think my father was present at the unveiling of the original wooden monument.

After Kohima my father moved on to Imphal, was involved in the crossing of the Irrawaddy and at the battle of Meiktilla before the taking of Mandalay.

    Cheers

Many thanks indeed Kevin and Paul. These are the clearest copies of this photo I have ever seen. I was lucky enough to visit Kohima four times during in my time in India (2005-09) but despite my passion for the Recce Corps was never able to locate the 2 Recce memorial. Do you know where it was?? As far as I was able to discover it no longer exists. And Kevin do you have your father's full name and service number please?? Many thanks, Clive
