Uniform Help WW2 Scottish Regiment

    Can anybody help me identify this Scottish WW2 era uniform?
    (My Uncle Fred Wilkinson from Ferryhill, Durham).
    I'm not 100% sure of the date but Fred was born 1923 so I'm guessing this must circa 1945 ?

    (It never ceases to amaze me how quick an answer will come back in this forum).

    Hodgson -
    yep - Paul has it right - the Agile & Sufferin highlanders- as they were known- thought that avatar was of the 9th Lancers ...

    Might also be 91 or 93 Anti Tank Regts Royal Artillery. Both were converted from the A&SH. There is a studio portrait in a book on 93 A/Tk of the author wearing an identical uniform taken in mid '44.

    Derek -
    Many Infantry battalions were converted into Tank regiments of the RAC - BUT they then wore the RAC badge - surely any conversions from the A & S to anti tank- would wear the RA badge ...?

    A lot of units converting to RA retained parts of their original uniforms, cap badges, shoulder titles and headdress. The A&SH retained most of their infantry appointments including both the Glengarry and Tam O Shanter with the A&SH badges.
