Tank crews were issued with the 38W hand pistol as a personal weapon, we knew after all that range practise that you could not hit a bucketat 10 yards away, because of the terrific upward kick, so we ditched them in favour of the 15 shilling mass produced Sten-gun, on"Bale-out" you could at best throw it forward with its Un-cocked loaded mag. The striking Butt could cover all sorts of puzzling distubances. understand !! bob90
Bob, Wife's second cousin was with the Perth Regiment. 5th Canadian Armoured Div. He was issued a sten gun but threw the useless thing away. Moved on to a Thompson submachine gun. Far more effective. I read somewhere that the cost to manufacture a sten was less than $4.00. No wonder they never worked! Welcome to the forum from across the pond.
A personal Smith & Wesson and one Tommy Gun between a crew of three. http://www.ww2talk.com/forum/1940/31830-service-revolver-1940-a.html Ron
