This has been on my to buy list for some time now. Looks like it offers a good insight into this dark chapter of history.

I don't think that many people are aware of the sheer madness and horror of Treblinka.

I visited Dachau about 10 days ago. It was the original model for all the concentration camps that followed. Only about 30,000 died at Dachau, because it was small, and mostly used (before the war) for political prisoners, and some few Jews. The Dachau museum has a map of all the German concentration camps, and Treblinka does not even appear.

I guess the reason it does not show up on the map is because it was not really a camp at all. The only housing was for the small number of permanent staff (prisoners) like poor Mr. Rajchman. All others who had the great misfortune to be sent to Treblinka went straight to the gas chambers. There was no chance of survival, like at Auschwitz or even Bergen-Belsen. There was no nearby factory for war materiel that required free labour. Treblinka was the ultimate weapon of the Final Solution: a killing factory.

I visited the site last year, and was sickened immensely to learn these facts.

I recently rented this, it is believed to be the meeting when the the Final Solution Policy was made. I makes it sound like one or two of the Nazis were not sure what they were hearing. They had problems with this policy but until the meeting wrapped up they were on board.

    Conspiracy.

2001 R 96 minutes On January 20, 1942, at the height of the World War II, 15 government officials and SS Commanders attended a conference on the outskirts of Berlin. It was a simple meeting, which -- by the end -- would decide the fate of 6 million lives. This BBC movie is based on the only surviving record of that meeting, which would stand as the blueprint for Hitler's final solution. Kenneth Branagh won an Emmy for his performance as Reinhard Heydrich.

Just watched documentry about Treblinka on BBC4 , The last two survivors. How people can do that to others is unbelieveable .
Have saw a few documentrys about the death camps, but to hear the stories from people who were there is another matter.

Saw this a few weeks ago by chance. Well worth the time to watch it. The lessons on a the banality of evil are never too often repeated and never more timely.
