Posting this here as first post of call hoping for direction to a more relevant Forum either Religious or Military..
Found this small book whilst going through my passed father in Laws effects ,Apart from his Shaving gear and tobacco tin was all he had in possession when he died in hospital some years ago.
He had no known connection to Navy was not religious and Served with Northumberland Hussars in WW2.
Family have no knowledge of Harry Brooks or why father in Law would have book.

Prayers and Hymns. Published William Clowes & Sons .
418 pages of all aspects of Dates .Services Festivals and Prayer

Front Cover , Oval badge with central Foul Anchor and Motto .Sigil:Offi:Mag:Admir:Mag:BR:&D.....?

Inner Cover. .Annotated :- 977 Harry G Brocks

    HMS Boscawen.

(HMS. Boscawen Formerly HMS Trafalgar was a training ship.)

Am trying to find out if this book was maybe a standard issue to recruits or did it belong to Chaplain .
Enough information in it to run a Parish more than needed by average sailor.
    Book dimensions 4"x 5" x1.5 inches

Official RN Crest. It appeared a lot to indicate item was official RN issue.

Thank you all that's great .
Father in Laws name was Leslie Woodvine Born around 1910 in Doncaster died early 90's .He moved to Dagenham pre War and Romford post war . And Served with Royal Artillery and Northumberland Hussars ( Anti tank)
No memory of any connection with the Brocks in family.
Only connection I can find with Navy ,His Father in Law (Walter Thomas )served on SS Tekoa that was involved in rescuing survivors of U boat attack in 1943..

    Hi Tricky Dicky
Has he any surviving family around now?
If I can find no connection of consequence to Father in Law or reason to keep it I might well contact them and return it .

It appears from the family tree info that he did not have any offspring from his marriage.

    However
    Brother Frederick - 3 children
    Brother Arthur - 2 children
    Sister Francis - 3 children
    Brother Albert - 2 children

Some of these children are still alive or so it seems.

I cant see a Woodvine, but as it may have come down through the female side that would answer that, possibly
