I've just got off the phone from Brian (sapper) & Sheila Guy to tell them the sad news.
They had a great day with Tom a few years ago when Tom visited.

Well done, Owen. SDP and I have both tried to contact Brian through PMs, without success.

    How is Brian keeping?

Tom, I'm off to my third yearly reunion of the 2/7 TH MX Regiment, the Machine gunners- In August. R.I.P. Not many of the Old boys left.
I've never seen you in person, but I've had the honour of meeting some of your generation. It would have been nice if my Grand-father had been has open has you have been.

My thoughts are with your family, & the rest of the forum.

Will be sadly missed by a lot of people he contributed his knowledge with on the site, plus his PM's as we shared the same incapacity.

    Rest In Peace,

    RIP Tom.

I first met Tom when we were both site helpers on the BBC people war website many years ago.

So sad to hear this as we communicated a lot.

One by one the ww2 vets fade away but with folk like us will never be forgotten :poppy:

So sorry to hear that. Tom has helped me several times on this forum and his support and input will be sorely missed. Such a worthwhile and valuable role.
    Many thanks Tom.

Today would have been Toms Birthday. I sent him a number of cards during his hospital stay and today by a strange coincidence my last card was delivered home as " return to sender " . This was the card when I said I thought he must be bored and itching to escape . I said I awaited news of ww2 vet digging out of Chilliwack general hospital . .... Receiving the card today brought hairs on the back of my neck. He's in the "green fields" without any doubt.
