TOE's for units involved in Mini-Matador

Lads, I'm doing some research on the weaponry and equipment used by the 11th Indian Division's units that made up Krohcol, as well as by the Japanese 42nd Infantry Regiment and 14th Tank Regiment when involved in the fighting for The Ledge, but, so far, I have been able to find only bits and bobs here and there, without a true TOE (or similar) showing up anywhere.

Does anyone have more precise information on the subject? The more detailed, the better, please...

Indian Army War Establishments (equivalent to T/Os) make hen's teeth seem common currency. Equipment wise you're looking at the same kit as British/Commonwealth units. I have a general outline for an Indian Army Battalion, undated and with minimal info.

Everything in the English language for the IJA seems to have come from Allied intelligence reports. The Japanese had several variations of Inf Regt and there is some info for the Standard model; Tank units I don't think I've seen much on.

Hi Gary - where is the outline you refer to please? I couldn't find it on your otherwise excellent (no search function) site

TIP: Simply feed a competent web search engine a site filter instead - DDG example.

From looking into 9 Ind Div over the other side of Malaya, the British and Indian battalions seem to have been functionally identical apart from the VCOs replacing 2/3rds of the officers. The war diaries and histories imply much effort to bring the Ind bns up to the same establishment as the contemporary Br ones. The only real question is whether they were all fully equipped in time.

The tables Gary's referring to are c1944 in Burma where it seems that Br and Ind bns reorganised to the Indian Army's WEs for that theatre. I think that mimics what was done in the desert but I'm not really familiar with that neck of the woods.

Really!? Whether or not I put 'Indian' between quotation marks, I get exactly one result thus copied, pasted & indented in lieu of a quotation box -
Organization of the British Infantry Battalion 1938 to 1945

[IMG]bayonetstrength.uk/BritishArmy/BritInfBn/Org of the British Inf Bn 1938-45.pdf
never been able to track down the relevant documents for the British Indian Army. As far as possible, the information included here is obtained from contemporary documents, with a list of sources and acknowledgements given at the end. There will doubtless be omi ssions and it has already required some update.

I incidentally also added a "g!" 'bang', telling DDG to let Gurgle field it instead but, not being prepared to wade through all G's cookie crap to see exactly what it did find, merely noted that it described its haul as "not many" before mentally ceasing to regard it at competent !

Thanks. I am sufficiently none e-competent to have never heard of a "g" bang. I will take this on board to exorcise unnecessary cookies.

Thanks Red Goblin, I have experimented with that g! thingy and it worked brilliantly, me having been completely unaware of this functionality previously.

Then Say hello to bangs. for a better intro if you've not yet found it from DDG's main menu, but I'd best leave it at that rather than digress too far into tangential IT minutia even though I am mightily relieved that we seem to have finally solved your problem, one way or another, in Gary's absence.

But, then again even though the ideal search engine has yet to be invented, 2 things may still be worth stressing about site filters are that they can (A) improve yields from sites with their own less sophisticated search engines - e.g. ww2talk.com - and (B) be negated to exclude confusingly-noisy domains like pinterest.com.
