Hi, I'm waiting ony grandfathers records but, was just wondering if any of you can help... DOB: 1966 death 1966, Athlone.. he was in the RAF, he had been to Egypt and Singapore, I don't know much, sorry.. not even his rank number..
Hi Dympna, Welcome to the forum. I’m afraid you will struggle to make much speedy progress - unlike with your WW1 Irish Guards relatives on Great War Forum - as there is very little available in free public sites on the internet for post WW1 U.K. service personnel - unless he was an officers or received a gallantry medal or MBE etc which will be recorded in The London Gazette. I understand the provision of RAF service files is now quite a speedy process as they send results by email so unless another member already has full chapter and verse on your grandfather you may have to wait and return to the forum once you’ve received his records. They will be in RAF shorthand for the most part so you will likely need the assistance of members such as Ross RAFCommands in due course. Good luck. Steve
Hello, You don't say but as there is only one Thomas P. Carberry listed in the AIR78 listing of RAF men and women who served between 1918 and 1975 presumably your grand dad was 973601 Thomas Peter Carberry? Regards, Dave
Sorry Dave for late reply, he was Thomas Patrick Carberry...thsnk you, I will wait for records and then come back, cheers, thank you
