At last, after many years of waiting, my one bedroom research room is being built at the National Archives. Hopefully I will be given pick of the litter.
I passed by that way a few days ago on a recce of the NA and, more important at the time, to do some shopping at the adjacent Mall. The flats are coming along nicely and look very impressive......and very expensive.........
I think you are right Clive. I work next to Teddington Lock, they have just demolished the old TV Studios and are building 240 luxury flats. Some of these will face the Thames and the Lock, 2 bed top floor reputedly £ 1.8 million. I wouldn't mind, but I will be beautifying the view from the other side of the building for my new neighbours come 2018.
And you can't even stagger home from the Fenton to Kew... Half or more of these will probably be bought up before completion by Chinese investment portfolios whose owners will never visit them. Swathes of luxury flats in new London developments serve the same purpose.
You're right CF, the flats I mentioned at Teddington Lock, or at least a good number of them, have reportedly already been bought by an Indian consortium.
If you like watching the A380's swoop by to Heathrow, it's just the spot, but you can't get decent fish and chips anywhere in Kew.
