    Dear Mods/Admin.

Without wishing too sound like I want to tell you what to do or anything-For the record I love this site and my Girlfriend doesn't ! Which I guess is a statement in its self.

Anyway would it be possible to have a specific section set up for 'Then and Now' pictures? This is something relatively new to me and I like others I'm sure really love looking at such pictures and it seems to me to be a shame that they could be lost all over the forum.

I use as a example the pictures above. John reminded me of them again last night and enjoyed looking at them again at 2am (Do you see why my Girlfriend hates this site?)

Anyway if you can do -Fanatatic !

If not-Sorry and I'll wind my neck in ;)

    Cheers
    Andy

Andy - moved this to the suggestions section.

We Mods will have a natter about it - maybe a sub-section of WW2 Battlefields Today?

To be honest if there is a thread in the WW2 Battlefields Today section it usually contains a then & now.....well they do if I've posted it.
Surely it's up to the thread starter to add that to the thread title?
I've done so may Then & Nows I ain't going back to move them all into a new section.
    I can't be arsed.

I understand what your saying Owen. I don't know how to explain this- Anyway here goes...

I was thinking of a section that had a 'heading' Then and Now and inside that was different threads started by members containing then and now pictures which could have different headings of their own choosing.

    Does that make sense?

    Sorry if I'm causing a cuff-uffle :D

Can they not be left where they are and just start a fresh, I'm sure it won't take long to get contributions?

I've already got two lined up for my next Dunkirk trip :)

    Cheers

At the very least, when posting up a 'then and now' pic, could we use a tag which is searchable - I went back to thread of mine and tagged it ... just remembered about another post, but it is in the middle of another's lengthy thread ... difficult.

Now you mention it DBF, tagging may well be the answer to this issue.

    Aye GH,

;) I do have the odd good idea now and again, but this mightn't be one of them ... I have one average N&T in the middle of that pics thread in Gen. for instance. Don't think it's worth trawling through that entire thread to find it ...

I like the idea of having them somewhere together, because I enjoy seeing how clever you all are at finding them. No doubt they'd be googled to death.

Why not start a thread for each country? Anyone who has more can add ... if they can be arsed that is :D

I think if there was a sub section in Battlefields called 'Then and Now pictures' Members could add them from anywhere they've taken them and title them by place name if they wished.

It would be like a gallery and people could comment on the individual threads within that sub section. Also they would all be together for members and non members (possibly new members) to find easily.

Thought about this for a bit now.
After thinking I might run a little plebiscite via a poll; I've had a proper look through the battlefields section and changed my mind.

As 'old miserable bastard'* says, almost every report on a visit has some 'then' pictures already. To separate out the ones that do not would be a dilution of an important area - the Battlefield section is the first port of call for a great many visitors, many of whom won't be familiar with vbulletin - It can take a while for some to realise there's more than one forum section here.
So I think it's better to keep it all in one heap - then people can scan the titles more easily. (think hard when titling a thread, particularly if it's an info request - clear & specific titles attract more Googlers and are less likely to be ignored by jaded forumites).

    Might change the forum's title/description a little though... it's a tad vague.

Where is the Then & Now thread?

Been looking for a while, even using the search function but can't find it.

Perhaps there should be a dedicated sub-forum so they're easier to find?

    Cheers.
