When the new Quads first arrived at the Manor, Sir Francis Burdett who saw them coming up the drive, said with some relief,
“Thank God we have got some armour”. Little did he realise that these were ‘soft skinned’ vehicles which had no armoured protection whatsoever!

The quad was somewhat under powered and some of the steeper slopes in Italy they
often had to have two to tow the gun and limber up the steep slopes like railway Banking Engines.

To cross river fords the crews tied a tarpaulin under the engine and over the bonnet to prevent it stalling.

Not just the Morris C8. Don't forget the Ford Quad (as in the Tamiya 25 pdr set), the Ford/Chevy CMP Quad (as per the Italeri kit), the Guy Quad Ant and the Karrier KT4 Spider.

From memory wasn't the Quad originally designed by the bus manufacturer Guy but they could not produce enough units so Morris took over, then it went Trans Atlantic
