Hallo all Just wondering if one of you may be able to give me more information regarding several op's flown by the above pilot. I'd simply like to know a bit more about the couple of missions he flew, who it was he was carrying etc, how important the missions were and I have seen his name in the pdf which Jacksun recently very kindly posted. For example, he brought home six agents on 16 Dec '43, the day before he was killed while bringing another two back. He is buried right alongside his father-in-law who was the first Colonel of my WW1 unit of interest. The aircraft crash was also incredibly close to the home of his father-in-law... Many thanks for any assistance!
Quite a bit of info re Stephen Hankey in the publication 'We Landed By Moonlight Secret RAF Landings in France 1949-1944' - Hugh Verity. Regards Peter
Hi I compiled a list of Sussex War Dead for the Chichester Archives and have the following entry for him. Hankey Stephen A 161 Sqdn 17 December 1943 B Crowhurst He is also on the West Dean (near Chichester) war memorial Jacky
This site is quite interesting and the PDF mentions the Book by Hugh Verity as missing out a few missions. The Sussex Plan click on infiltrations. Regards Tom
