THE HISTORY OF THE PAWIAK PRISON IN WARSAW

Compared to the Warsaw Ghetto routes and the locations related to the 1944 Warsaw Uprising, the Pawiak Prison Memorial has a more moderate flow of visitors, though the site is separately connected with both. I visited the memorial back in 2019 and finally want to share my exhaustingly detailed 15,000-word research on the history of Pawiak since the XIX century, through the German occupation, the Holocaust, and the post-war commemoration. 100+ archival photos, some of them never published before, mixed with detailed history and my modern photos of the site, aerial images, and maps.
