A few more photographs taken from my uncles album (Leading Wireman Kenneth Mark Perry DSM).
These are of the destroyer H.M.S. Kingston on which my uncle served after she was hit by a 15" shell from the Italian battleship 'Littorio' during the Second battle of Sirte, March 1942.
The descriptions of the photos are as my uncle depicted them.
As these are from a private source they would not have been seen before.

    1. Warhead hanging.
    2. Near Miss.
    3. Under Pom-Pom after 15" Inboard.
    4. Near Miss April 9th (1942)
    5. Ship on reaching Malta.
    6. Searchlight Platform.
    7. Looking Fo'ard From 4".
    8. Skipper (Commander Philip Somerville)

    Thanks for these!

Enrico Cernuschi thinks it was an 8" hit from Trento?

Are there any pictures or references to 22 May 1941 and battle damage from an engagement with Italian Torpedo Boat Sagittario, which seems to have resulted in near misses and splinter damage from 3.9" guns?

    All the best

    Andreas

Wiki does HMS Kingston justice: HMS Kingston (F64) - Wikipedia I note the ship's captain, Philip Somerville died when the Luftwaffe hit the ship in Malta docks.

I also note the audacity and bravery of two of her Italian opponents, torpedo boats Lupo and Saggitario.
