I have always wanted to post this to show the horrendous conditions the men on ships going to Russia during WW2 had to put up with. View attachment CanadianCoastGuardCS.PPS
Spidge - as I understand it - the crews of those ships who made it to Murmansk were not allowed on shore - nor had many thanks from the government of that country either - but they continued to go as weather was just one of the hazards - you have to take your hat off for those men. Cheers
Geoff, this is a great thread. And, from my perspective, it only goes to prove that size matters. My PPS is too big for this forum, apparently. On the other matter, matchbooks enroute with ETA your hands April 5+. You may even find them in your mailbox hand delivered. cheers. phil

Cheers Hi Tom, We have had a couple of Russian deniers on this forum over the years which raised the blood temperature of many of us. Should put some links up for the "newer lads" to read through in their spare time.
Hi Spidge, Sorry but your link: CanadianCoastGuardCS.PPS won't open for me??? Regards, Tom. There is possibly something that your system does not have. I will see if I can find the single JPEG images.

They are a poorer image but show the difficulties these lads would have been under. View attachment 17784
Geoff, What I tried, but found each slide was too big, was to go into Powerpoint and save each individual slide. Deadb_tch suggested it in my question thread. Anyway, it does work. Number the slides and Tom or others who don't have the ability to watch PPS can see them this way. The alternative for Tom is to go to Downloads.com and look for a Powerpoint player and load it on your machine. Then you can play the lovely things that come to you as email attachments. Hope this is helpful. Cheers, phil

The other thing I wondered was if you saw my images from HMCS Iroquois and Shawinigan If I knew how to copy and paste the )(^&)^()^& threads, I would be a lot happier. However, I know there are those who can and will post the ice of these threads here for me.
Spidge - Might be good idea to post some links on that phase of WW2 as the more they learn of that conflict - the more they wil learn - besides it was a forgotten type activity even at the time and not too much was known about the hardships etc M.C. as we now appear to have a ton of toms of the forum - we should itemise them by Mk 1 - 2 - 3 etc Cheers
Spidge - M.C. as we now appear to have a ton of toms of the forum - we should itemise them by Mk 1 - 2 - 3 etc Cheers Thought I tried that with the BC Tom or maybe you should be Tom the Vet, [and can you fix the cat, please!] the Berlin Tom and so on -- In fact, my GPS is a TOMTOM, so heck, they are everywhere! Appears we are getting a little heavy on phil's too. Maybe we should treat you with some reverence due and name you Thomas the Elder. My, that has a certain panache to it. ever living close to the edge of life, cheers, phil
M.C. Just watch it with the Thomas the Elder bit - sounds Welsh to me - and that I ain't - so just keep it up as I know where the Sualt is you know - flew over it coming back from NY and had to flush twice as apparently you were short of water at the time !! Cheers
