A rather good presentation by Stephen Fisher on WW2TV

While I have met Stephen and admired the work he did on the LCT I found his book on Sword Beach slightly underwhelming as he ignored the AA troops entirely. Some of these chaps landed at H+45. The suppression of strongpoint COD coincided with the landing of AFVs mounting 40mm and triple 20mm cannons.

Yeah, he concentrates on the actions of No. 4 Commando in Ouistreham for this presentation.

Glad you like the presentation Cee. Sheldrake, I'm sorry your specific units of interest do not feature as much, but I do in fact include AA troops in my book, just not on the beach. I tried to include as wide range of units as possible but there will always be some arms of service that do not get as great a mention as others. I also had to cut out contingents of REME, RASC, Inns of Court and others who landed in the early waves of Assault Group S3. I've also been told I didn't include 9 Brigade enough (even though, as the end of the day, they did not contribute as much to the story of Sword as others), 3 and 45 Commando (same) and the East Riding Yeomanry (same again). Unless the book is four times thicker than mine that will always be the case.

Where to next Stephen? Will you be following the various Commando units across the Canal/Orne Bridges?

I was tempted to, but instead I'm following one Commando unit to Walcheren!
