    Hello,

Does anyone recall seeing any mention in the combat reports of the 8th or 6th Durham Light Infantry, or the 7th Royal Tank Regiment, of a British aircraft shot down on the front lines just outside of Dainville in the early afternoon of the 21st May?

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

    Regards,

    Ian

Nothing mentioned of it in the War Diaries (and associated reports and notes) of all 3 units.

    Hi Ian,

If your interested in the aircraft, I have 18 British Aircraft shot down or damaged on that day.

Do you have any further info as I can't see any connection to Dainville.

Welcome to the forum by the way.

    Regards
    Andy

    Hello Andy,

Thanks for your reply. If there are no mentions in the war diaries of the units involved then that answers my query.

Great Forum! Always amazes me the level of knowledge that is out there.

    Thanks again,

    Ian

4 RNF's makes no mention but does say that they were forced to withdraw "due to lack of tank and air support". I'd have thought that there is a good chance that this remark would have been qualified if any air cover had been shot down.
