Temple at War is a brand new two day Military and Vintage Show based in the South East of England. This unique experience will be the biggest indoor and outdoor Military Event in Essex to combine Living History Groups and the General Public. Showcasing the past 100 years of Military History, Temple at War will provide Family Entertainment, Activity and Education against the outstanding backdrop of Cressing Temple Barns, Braintree, Essex.
Visitors to The Show will experience a true taste of the past as Living History Opportunities covering WW1, WW2 and the Cold War era will be revealed and provide your family with a truly memorable day out. Be ‘on guard’ throughout the day as spontaneous and dramatic scenes will be re-enacted by our enthusiastic Groups from around the UK who are immersed in living the lives of ‘characters past’. Join in and experience the lives of a British ‘Tommy’, German Soldier, Red Cross Nurse, Spitfire Pilot, Land Army Girl and Home Front Volunteer.

Many of our groups have provided Historic Guidance, Acting Extras and Film Props to National Television Productions which include ITV’s, DOWNTOWN ABBEY, the BBC’s WORLD WAR ONE AT HOME live events, and internationally acclaimed Films such as FURY and WAR HORSE.
As part of this fantastic show you will be able to see a host of Vintage Uniforms, Artillery, Armoured Vehicles, Cars, Jeeps, Motorbikes, Bicycles, Tents, Equipment, Photographic History and much, much, more!
Collectors and Shoppers will have an opportunity to browse the inside and outside stalls packed full of military interest for the Keen Enthusiast or Bargain Hunter.
Period Music, Dance and Entertainment will be accompanied by Vintage Refreshment stands including Themed Beverages, Cakes, Sweets and Retro Food at very reasonable prices.
The site has free parking and space for over 2,800 vehicles and excellent disabled facilities, so bring your friends and family. From the minute you time warp into “Temple at War” you will be immersed in a bygone world. As soon as you walk on site, history will unfold before your eyes. Why not attend the show in period costume and bring your camera for unprecedented photographic opportunities?
You will not only experience Military History as Cressing Temple is a Scheduled Ancient Monument, you will be able to visit Two Grade I listed Medieval Barns housing agricultural exhibitions, one of which is the oldest standing timber-framed Barn in the World. This is a full day‘s family entertainment with activities from start to finish for you to enjoy. Allow yourself enough time to walk amongst and engage with the Living History Groups, sit and absorb the atmosphere at the many seating areas, or join in and sing along with the Entertainment. Take in the whole experience and be surprised at how history is bound together in this very special event.
Be a real part of history and join us at Temple at War – Saturday 16 May and Sunday 17 May 2015. Come in Appropriate Vintage Clothing – Bring your Camera – See you there!
