Supply drop for "Varsity" 1945

    I did learn that Campbell was quickly found by airborne troops. He was buried in Europe then repatriated to the US in Florence, Alabama. I have visited his grave. Sad experience for everyone involved. Lt. Beasley is still buried in Europe.

    Sad indeed,

    If Campbell was first man out that might explain why his body was found by the Airborne. The next two jumpers land in and by Rhine. Did the B-24 then swing back? Heslin claims he came down in "No Man's Land". If the aircraft kept on in the same direction it may have crashed in an area still under German control, although that would have quickly changed in the following days. Pure speculation, of course, at this point.
