    Afternoon,
Has anyone got some decent Sten dimensions to hand?
Overall length - sizes for receiver, stock etc?

Thinking of building a wooden one or two for the sprogs, and I can find a fair few drawings, but not much on actual dimensions - seems a bit daft to go for an approximation of sizes when there must be some better info out there.

    Cheers,

    Cheers, chap.
I had actually been there (even printed out the overall plan), but for some reason (being dim probably) hadn't taken in that there were dimensions beyond those of the working parts.

    Duh.

I'll keep an eye on the news for reports of the Plod's Armed Responce Unit being called out by a neighbour for 2 boys playing with sub-machine guns in their back garden.

Hopefully my terrible scratch-building skills will protect us from that...

Did feel a bit iffy looking at some sites though - seems knocking up a Sten is a first step for many budding Gunsmiths in the more firearm-tolerant countries.

Have you looked at this site - it's for a MkII but might be of use

Sorry seems it's another link to the site mentioned above

Cheers, John, appreciate the effort but it's the same instructions as Canuck put up.

If I lived in the states, I'd be wondering where I could borrow a milling machine...

My thoughts too - great to have such info available for the right reasons but perhaps just a bit too much detail for safety in some hands?

    Adam,

If you have a problem with certain parts I can dig out my de-activated Sten and put a tape to it. Let me know if that would help.

The previous comments made me ponder how much things have changed. As a 10-12 year old, several of us with the de-activated weapons, often charged about the street playing at war without much notice from any adults. Today, that could well result in a visit from the SWAT team.

Ohh interesting, was thinking this weekend about making a wooden STEN prop. Will watch this thread with interest. Please post pics and build tips as you go along.
