Some photos taken at St. Mere Eglise over the past 6-8 years, they are in the main of the town today in or about the 6th June in each year. Always a few veterans around, british , French and American although sadly all now are increasingly frailer, quite a few young Americn servicemen , usually Rangers and Paratroopers and a lot of military vehicles - jeeps, trucks, the odd Sherman , occasional Kublewagon , lost of folks on the streets, music , food and beer. The famous waterpump, the church and the ever present man hanging from the roof.
Memories of visiting St Mere Eglise, beautiful weather in summer and the autumn seems not to have changed much since the war apart from the bypassing of the town by the present A 13. Photographs of signposts so interesting especially the ones going back to the occupation when military signposts give so much interesting information regarding German unit locations. I didn't realise that John Steele had an Hotel/Restaurant named in his honour.should draw some patronage. Thanks for posting.
There is a collectors fair in the village usually on the friday before 6th June although dates do sometimes vary depending on when 6th falls, a few hours are normally spent in and around that and the village in general.
