Ok, here are some landmarks in Berlin relating to WW2 and its legacy. The First picture is of an Exhibition called the "Topography of Terror" which chronicles the terror and persecution under the Third Reich. whats interesting about this picture folks is that "trench" that you see used to be the cellars of the Gestapo Headquarters on what used to be called "Prinz -Albrecht Strasse"!!! The next picture is of a car park (I know, I know). Boring isnt it? Well this is the site of Hitler's Bunker!!! Part of the complex is a playground where children of all races come to play. Nice to see that something good has been put were a symbol of evil once stood. Next we come to the old Army Headquarters on what was called Bendlerstrasse. Here was were the Berlin contingent of the July 20th plot came together to carry out the plan. Finally we have a picture of the spot were Claus von Stauffenberg was put up against a wall and shot. Enjoy!
Excellent photos. Its interesting how much of the architecture from that period still survives. Given the mess that Berlin was in 1945 I would have expected far lfess 'stuff' to still be there. Kiwimac
