Hello all, I have a set of 6 medals to 7343679 Sgt L.H. Scott of the RAMC can anyone throw any light as regards information. And I mean anything as I am totally in the dark with the research on this man. The group consists of 1939-45 Star, Africa Star, War and Defence medal along with Territorial Efficiency medal and 1953 coronation Medal. Regards. Jim Mitchell
Hi Jim Obviously without more details it will be difficult, looking for a L H Scott in the Ancestry military databases throws up a possible: Name: L Scott Publication Date: 19 Mar 1946 Rank: Lance Serjeant Regiment or Unit: Royal Army Medical Corps Theatre of Combat or Operation: Royal Marines Award: Mention in Despatches Date of Action or Award: 1946 http://discovery.nationalarchives.gov.uk/details/r/D7397004 TD edited to add: Have you tried - http://www.army.mod.uk/medical-services/29918.aspx OR http://www.ams-museum.org.uk/museum/history/ramc-history/
Thanks a lot for your reply will delve further. I`m currently selling my medal collection and want to gain as much info as I can. I have undertaken to try and reunite as many of the medals I can with the families of the servicemen/women who`s medals etc I have in my collection prior to offering them to auction. I have medals from the Crimea War through to general service after WW2 so as you can imagine it`s quite an undertaking. I have been successful so far with six sets of medals etc, The families ranging from just down the road literally, and as far as Australia. I will persevere. Regards. Jim.
Jim Ancestry has some interesting military databases including Crimea - if I can help send me a PM TD
