I am desperately seeking anyone with links or family members of anyone that may have served with 110th LAA Regiment, 362 Battery, Royal Artillery - H troop in particular, from 1942 -1945

My great grandfather was in the regiment from 1942, through to his death at Nijmegen on 28th October 1944. They landed in Normandy on 24th June 1944 as part of the 43rd Wessex Division. I am trying to collect as much information as possible on the regiment and the men who served in it. If anybody out there has any pictures they wouldn’t mind sharing, or any information in general, I’d greatly appreciate it.

I have the Regimental war diaries and about as much information as google searches will uncover, there much be more info out there somewhere.

    Craig welcome to the forum.

Do you have his service records. This link explains everything you need to do to apply.
On the CWGC link you can download the certificate to use as proof of death when applying for his records.
Get a copy of military records of service
If you have the diaries and service records you have most of the info available on him.
Other forum members will try to add more
Why dont you upload info you have on him including photos it will save forum members double researching.

Welcome aboard Craig. I suspect you already have this, but I hope you don’t mind my posting it anyway, the Casualty List:

From a genealogy site: b. 17/12/1908 and an exact match to CWGC data. I looked there for his wife, nowt and then online and again nowt readily found. Any clues on where she lived, plus the four sons?

A public Facebook entry in 2024 notes he is the seated person in the middle of the photo. From: Arnhem 1944: The Brave Men and Women Remembered | My Great Grandfather (bottom middle) | Facebook Added by Craig, so I expect that is the OP author.

The "go to" reference site for the RA has a brief history:
From: 110 Light Anti-Aircraft Regiment RA (TA) - The Royal Artillery 1939-45

His Service Number indicates he "joined up" before early 1942, when the Army changed the system. Perhaps he joined 110th LAA when it was converted from 7th Dorsetshire?

You could ask those who have posted specifically on the unit on: Wessex 43rd 110th L.A.A (Royal Artillery) If you hover over their avatar it will show when they last logged on, select 'Start a Conversation' and off you go. You have access to the Private / Direct message option after adding x5 posts. Even those who have not logged on for years will reply - worth a try.

An online search with: "110th LAA" site: ww2talk.com id'd a few threads, some are your posts. Using: "110 LAA" site: ww2talk.com id'd a few more. Then: "110 Light Anti Aircraft" site: ww2talk.com those id'd at a glance are duplicates.

Bear in mind the RA became a corps with a million plus members, other corps were smaller, individuals rarely appear in online research - unless they got a medal, were wounded and died.

This is the burial location in 1945, before the graves were checked and renumbered
