    Hello all,

Quick question on applying for service records.

If you are NOT next of kin and apply for service records you get a limited amount of info

If that person has been deceased for more than 25 years you get more info

Is the latter, the same as what the Next of Kin would get??? EG if the subject died more than 25 years ago can anyone get the FULL service records.

Not quite clear on what the website is saying https://www.gov.uk/requests-for-personal-data-and-service-records

    Thanks
    Dave

I think that if someone died over 25 years ago anyone can apply and you get the full records

Thanks Lesley. You have come up trumps as always. Just wanted to clarify that I would get everything. Turns out Great Grandad was in the Army up until 1923 so there are service records for him. More research!!!!!

Are you a relative? If so I would sign as a NoK anyway. We've done it for Andreas family when we was not directly the very next of kin. The MoD only do it to cover themselves regarding the Data Protection Act.
