I have found the MOD page on the internet where I can order my dad's service record from WWII, but to pay they request a cheque for 30 pounds. As I do not live in UK and we do not use cheques in the country where I live, does anybody know if another other form of payment is accepted (e.g. credit card, paypal) ? There is no indication of this on the MOD homepage. WOuld be grateful for assistance. Thanks, Pam
Hi Pamela - As Owen has said but I can also receive Paypal payments to so I'm happy for you to send me the paperwork etc and I'll post it for you along with a cheque or alternatively send you a cheque you can put in the application. Good luck with whatever you decide Andy
I was going to suggest an International Money Order but, as you don't say where you are, don't know if that's even an option from there. It also has the disadvantage of attracting commission charges - leastways from the UK to, say, Canada. It may, however, be better to e-mail cio-foi@mod.uk (as severally-quoted on said page) to ask them directly as they may have failed to realise this issue (and need it drawing to their attention to suggest a solution) or they've already got one (but the web team simply failed to publish it) - so it never hurts to ask those who really ought to know. And that way you're likely to be doing both yourself and the international community a favour by thus improving their page. Cheers, Steve
I just walk in to my bank and ask for a money order/Draft for £30 - they draw one up and I pay for it - about $50.00 Canadian and mail it off with the application. Wayne
I went down the dank and got an overseas draft/cheque. It cost $89 NZ, including bank charges. We'll worth it.
