AAI = Allied Army Italy, S.O.S. = Struck Off Strength. H.R.M. = Higher Rate Messing. The X list was the sick list, a post here will explain. P.S. Abbrevations can be found in this database.
GRE will refer to the Graves Registration unit who located the initail burial and transferred the dead to concentration cemeteries Cat C, Cas(L) as dbf had it here http://ww2talk.com/forums/topic/54184-casualty-cat-c/ refers to a casualty case in which the death or otherwise is unconfirmed - Cas(L) was the War Office abbreviation for the Casualty Branch - from June 1940 based in the Bluecoat School in Wavertree, Liverpool - hence Cas(L)
