At the end of the month, I'm due to give a talk to a local WFA branch on 'Serre in wartime' which, of course, is going to mainly focus upon the events of 1915-16 (and 1918). However, I know of some events in the area that took place on 2nd January 1871 (just prior to the Battle of Bapaume) and also of some military activities during the Roman occupation and, so (with a title like the one chosen), these will get a brief mention as will activities in 1939-40.

What I'm looking for here though is does anyone know of any activites/actions in the area that took place between 1941 and 1944 (be it downed planes, resistance actions or whatever) that I could round the talk off with? Did the 'dash to Douai' in Sept 1944 just peacefully pass by the area?

    Thanks.

Dave (PS.anything happen here in the 100 years war/Revolutionary/Napoleonic Wars, etc?)
