Searching for my Grandfather's Arctic Convoy Records - Eric Alan LIGHT, Merchant Navy

I am trying to find out information about my Grandfathers participation in the Arctic Convoys, to no avail.

I am 99% sure, that my Grandfather Eric Alan Light took part in the convoys, but I can't find any information on him.

I applied for his Seaman's pouch at Kew, which came back, but only includes entries from 1951. Can anyone possibly advise me as to where to look for any records that may exist? I am desperately trying to claim his Arctic Star on behalf of my aged father, his son...

His service record is called a form CRS 10. It wont be available online. It will be held at TNA Kew in piece BT 382. Which file it is held within this series really depends on when he left the service.
If he left the service prior to say 1965, I would look here: BT 382/1014
After that date, up until 1972, check BT 382/2587 if you are not sure check both files.
Those boxes hold the files of up to 60 names so best viewed on site at Kew or via a researcher or their paid services.
You will need the CRS 10 and ship movement cards to apply for his WW2 medals including the Arctic Star.

Just a quick note, I see his thread (3 pages) on British Merchant Navy website where those kind folks were giving him a lot of advice and guidance. Just posting this so members here don’t have to duplicate their efforts or can give suggestions that the BMN site members may have missed
