Hi, I've been asked if I could help find out some information about a friend's relative who served in the Leicestershire regiment during ww2. His name was Roger Barrett and his service number was 86894. They know very little about his time in the military, so any help or information would be gratefully recieved. An application for his records from Glasgow is in hand but I thought maybe some people on here might be able to give us a head start.
    Thanks

Brilliant! Thank you for that. It appears that he was responsible for civil and military government towards the end of the war. I've had a look at the US citation but can't make out when the words say when it describes the repatriation organisation he set up.. It looks to say 'venezia italia' but I'm not sure. Does any one know what it was called. I've done a quick Google search with possible names but nothing comes up.
    Thanks.

    Venezia is Italian for Venice.
Looks like it says 'Venezia Italia Police Force'.

Hi, I've found out what it says. It's the 'venezia Guilia Police Force. A police force set up by the allied administration in 1945.
