Scotland's 'Atlantic Wall'

    Next time anyone is near Dunblane in Central Scotland, try and take a run up nearby Sheriffmuir. On the back road to the village of Blackford is the former Whitestone Army ranges, used from WW1 to the 1950s.
    In 1943 the 8th DLI under supervision of the RE built a full sized replica of a typical Continental shore line, including a 'beach', 'foreshore', scale replicas of typical German fortifications, a sea wall, trench systems etc. It's on open moorland and is easily accessible. I posted some pics of it in the other forum a few years back-
