Discussion in 'Special Forces' started by Cees van den Brink, Sep 28, 2021.

  1. Good evening,
    Operation keystone
Today I did find the memorial stones of :
    Martine Edward Tyson (07-06-1922 / 16-04-1945 and
    Alfred Ronald (Ron) Edwards 29-09-1917 / 17-04-1945.
Difficult to find but I did get help from a farmer that lives nearby.
Due to the conversations on WW2TALK I found out about the memorial stone of Edwards, but was really surprised when the farmer told me about the second stone, the one for Martine Tyson!
So I did picture both after finding them.
The quality of the pictures is bad due to weather conditions.......
Still have some questions pending on WW2TALK.

Wyn Edwards : do you have a picture of your uncle Ron Edwards in a higher resolution than the one that I have?
You told me that you have the origional picture......hope to hear from you soon.....

To anyone who has pictures of the soldiers of Operation Keystone :
For the publication I would like to get a picture of a SAS soldier that was active for Operation Keystone in Putten The Netherlands.
Due to space issiues in the (future) book I need 1 more picture.....

Now the following pictures will be published (with permission) :

    Martine Edward Tyson 07-06-1922 / 16-04-1945
    John Watson (Jack) Keeble 27-10-1923 / 15-04-1945
    Alfred Ronald (Ron) Edwards 29-09-1917 / 17-04-1945
    Richard Jellicorse (Dick) Holland 04-06-1910 / 23-06-1977

So looking for a picture of the SAS soldiers that were involved with Operation Keystone in Putten The Netherlands :

    William John Wardley 25-03-1922 / 28-09-2020
Willem Floris (Wim) van Beek 29-09-1918 / 28-11-1977
Hendrikus Antonius Cornelis (Harry) Kuijpers 19-11-1922 / still searching for the date of decease (!)
Corporal S. Walsh (Lance Corporal) identification not succeeded yet.....(!) no dates available
Private E. Hawe identification not succeeded yet.....(!) no dates available
Private J. Silvey identification not succeeded yet.....(!) no dates available
Corporal N.Searle (Lance Corporal) identification not succeeded yet.....(!) no dates available
Captain Smith identification not succeeded yet.....(!) no dates available

Is there anybody out there that can help me with identifying these soldiers or having dates of birth and decease.
Or is there anybody that has a picture of the soldiers mentioned here above......

    That would be great.
    WE SHALL NEVER FORGET !!
In honour for those who were involved in the liberation of The Netherlands we should always remeber them !!

  2. Good evening,

Sorry to find no reaction to my post of 30-10-2021 ......
Maybe if somebody find this message in a later stage......here is a map of the location of the memorial stones of Edwards and Tyson.
Both memorial stones are located at Beulekampersteeg Putten The Netherlands.
You can travel there by car, only the last piece will be traveling on foot......
When travel from Putten to Voorthuizen on the main road N303 (Voorthuizerstraat).....take in hamlet Huinen the turn left into the Beulekampersteeg.
Drive this road for about 4,3 km. When you pass the Pasdijk on the left side you have to travel another 430 meters and take the second turn right.
You can park there.......and walk......After 200 meters you see a farm on the right but follow the dirt road to the left.
After 260 meters a field on the left starts.......
After another 170 meters a second field on the left starts.
After antother 150 meters you get to the end of that field.
On the left you will find the memorial stone of Edwards between the trees.
If you go back to the main dirt road you find a dirt road oposite the memorial stone of Edwards.
If you walk in, you have to climb a low gate and see a field on your left hand side.
There you should go straight to the second field, probably about 80 meters from the main dirt road.
Go left into the second field and keep on the right.
There, between the trees is the memorial stone of Tyson......
When it is a bit of wet time of the year.....take your boots with you !!
You can contact me if you have trouble finding it.

    We should never forget !!

  3. Good afternoon everybody,
Suppose to try again with asking for just one person :

    - Walsh S. (Lance Corporal) 00-00-0000/00-00-0000

Lance Corporal S. Walsh was serving for the SAS in the Netherlands when Operation Keystone was active.
He served with Captain Holland, Lieutenant Wardley, Sergeant Kuypers, Sergeant-Major Ellis, Lieutenant Stuart, Corporal Searl etc.....
Still looking for information regarding some of these soldiers.
This would be their date of birth, their full name (name of birth), their date of decease.......

    Ellis Wilfred (SAS Sergeant-Major) 00-00-0000/00-00-0000
    Hawe E. (SAS Private) 00-00-0000/00-00-0000
Kuijpers Hendrikus Antonius Cornelis (Harry) 19-11-1922/00-00-0000
Searle N. (SAS Lance Corporal) 00-00-0000/00-00-0000
    Silvey J. (SAS Private) 00-00-0000/00-00-0000
    Smith (SAS Captain) 00-00-0000/00-00-0000
    Walsh S. (Lance Corporal) 00-00-0000/00-00-0000

In my first attempt I was getting so much information and it helped me a lot.

This information is needed for a publication (next year somewhere between February-June) about WWII in Putten The Netherlands.
Getting this information is VERY important because we should NEVER forget these heroes......
They did prepare the path for the liberation of our village Putten (The Netherlands) and did risk their lives for us.
Without details like their name of birth and their date of birth (etc) these names are not identified and these heroes unknown !!

    We shall never forget !!
